i think i should take it as a good sign that i need a career change when i'm already tired of writing about my career to date. but we're nearly caught up, and then i think this journey will get more interesting.
so ... summer, 2009. i've accepted a job as the director of brand communications for a company called glu mobile (NASDAQ: GLUU). i liked the people i met during the interview process, which was quick and efficient. i was especially happy to have a strong female mentor
i started this blog in 2011, intending to write about my career change from technology marketer to social worker. however, as time went on, my thoughts went more to what it's like to go through a big life transition while also living with major depressive disorder, as i have for 20+ years. it's now 2014 and i have moved across the country, finished a year of graduate school, and lived through two more depressive episodes. it's been a roller coaster, but right now i'm enjoying an upswing.

if sheila can plow a field in three hours and ed can plow it in 5 ...
... = ugh.
i'm 41 years old, people. FORTY-ONE. are you kidding me that i have to learn this again?

all of a sudden i'm a very busy girl
remarkably, we are 6 weeks into classes, and i'm two weeks into my new job, with another side job taking up a little time as well (it's in bus dev stage right now; am i a bad person if i'm sort of hoping the contract doesn't come through, meaning real work has to be done?). and soon, very soon, i have to start thinking about my application for grad school, which is due at the beginning of january. for once in my fucking life, i'd like to not be doing something at the last minute.
the GRE is pretty much a distant memory at this point and has been almost from the time i took it. i don't find out how i did until november, anyway, so there's not much point worrying about it.
i will admit, however, to feeling a twinge of nervousness about the exam that I'm about to get back (as in, literally, the professor is handing them back as i write this). i've been having some trouble concentrating lately, so studying has been a challenge, as has work. i don't have to be a star in these prerequisites i'm taking, but i do have to get a "C" or better for them to count. i'm not going to lie, i haven't often been worried about getting a "C," but this is kind of important.
(ok, it's fine, and we're about to start class ...)
